Dambulla is a town in central Sri Lanka, located in the Matale District of the Central Province. It is the largest and most important town in the district, located 148 km away from Colombo and 72 km away from Kandy. The town is known for its world heritage site, the golden-roofed Dambulla Cave Temple, built in the 1st century BC.

The temple complex is home to more than 80 documented caves, which contain statues and paintings of Buddha. Other attractions in Dambulla include the Ironwood Forest, Sigiriya Rock Fortress, and Pidurangala Rock.
