The Lotus Tower Management has welcomed the one-millionth visitor this evening since the tower opened to the public, Lotus Tower Head of Management, Prasad Samarasinghe said.
He told the Daily Mirror that the one-millionth ticket was sold to a family of four members who arrived from the Wilgamuwa area in Matate and were rewarded with a plaque and gift voucher.
The Lotus Tower was opened to the public on September 15, 2022.
He said revenue was collected since the day the tower opened to the public and that he did not receive anything from the government for managing the tower and its staff.
“With the revenue collected from the tower, the management managed to pay the first lease rental of Rs. 100 million to the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) within the first year,” he said.
A total of 22,000 foreigners visited the tower.
Before the end of December, people will be able to experience and engage in many entertainment activities.
The operating hours for visitors to the Lotus Tower are as follows; Monday through Friday, tickets will be issued from 9.00 am to 9.00 pm and Tower operations close at 10.00 pm. Saturday and Sunday tickets will be issued from 9.00 am to 10.00 pm and Tower operations close at 11.00 pm.
