TripAdvisor Listed Colombo as the 7th Top Global Cultural Tourism Spot

One of the World’s Largest Travel Sites, Tripadvisor has ranked Colombo as the world’s seventh best ‘cultural destination’ for tourism.

This was based on reader’s votes received in 2022 over 12 months.

“Congrats to all of the 2024 winners and a big thanks to the travelers who made it possible,” Trip Advisor said. From museums and historic sites to local flavors and traditions, the experiences in these 25 spots in the world are truly one-of-a-kind.”

Cuba, Cusco and Agra are the top three while Fes (dubbed as the oldest University in Bali) Athens and Dublin are in fourth, fifth and sixth places. Trip Advisor says the following about Sri Lanka: “Colombo is the gateway to Sri Lanka for most travelers—but don’t be tempted to simply pass through this diverse and interesting city.”

“Take a train ride along the coast to Mount Lavinia, a popular beach, or explore the Talangama Wetland, which several TripAdvisor travelers say is the perfect place to take a break from the bustling streets of the city.”
